After filling up on blueberry pancakes its time to explore New York…. *Licking lips*

I always feel like im walking in a film set when in New York, but slightly more over crowded. Everytime i come here im always strugling to get in everything i dont know if thats just the way the city is or if there is just too much to explore, but never the less my time was spent well and there were some great adventures to be made…

Iv’e had my eye on Coney island since seeing the Life magazine photographs (link) and hearing strange old wives tales, not sure if there actualy from there wives but you get what i mean. It has a real neat history of circus freaks, odd balls and the eccentric, which i dont know about you but that sounds pretty interesting too see, also you will bump in to quite a handfull of Steve Powers work, of which is hand painted signs and characters from the notorious cyclone ride. If you don’t know Steve Powers search his work an get inspired. The cyclone was very intense, I felt like i broke my neck, it was a roller coaster/bumper car ride. Also a neat fact about Coney Island is it used to be its own island but was joint to the mainland but landfill.

After collecting are neck braces we thought we would take things a bit slower and check out some of New Yorks hot spots. We been staying with a good friend Brandon, his friend acts on broadway and lucky enough we caught some tickets to check out Daniel Radcliffe in How to succeed in business with out really trying, and wowzers he really blew us away he was great and so was the whole show, highly recommend. We also hit up the imax which was like watching a movie in space and on that note i also saw my first ever cockroach an it made me feel sick.

The MoMA is in New York is one of my favourite galleries of all time, the building is huge which gives you plenty of place to explore. The permanent exhibits are awesome with some of the art looking so familiar, but i feel it never compares to actually seeing in art in a real gallery setting. We hit the gallery around 4pm on Friday as they have a awesome promotion where you can wonder the corridors for free!

Then this is where it all started getting messsy, with hurricane Irene on the way and supposedly hitting NY fairly hard we decided to leave the city a night early but it wasnt as easy as that, after finding all our bookings cancelled last minute we had to race over to china town an jump on a bus, it felt like i was in a war of the worlds film while staring out the window of a bus rushing out the city as dark heavy clouds headed in an the rains flooded in…
